She loved her job, but after giving birth to her first child, she realised she needed more flexibility in her work schedule. She wanted to be there for her child's milestones while contributing to her family's income.

During her maternity leave, Amelia started her bookkeeping business, focusing on small businesses and entrepreneurs who needed help understanding their finances and gaining their own freedom from bookkeeping.
